American Telesis offers Optical Carrier (OC) level services from OC-3 to OC-48. These circuits are available either fully protected (SONET) or unprotected as well as concatenated (c) or unconcatenated. Designed to handle even the most demanding business applications, our SONET services can be automatically restored in less than 100 milliseconds (ms). SONET equipment has automatic protection switching, which allows traffic to be a “working path” to a “protect path” in less than 50ms (equipment manufacturer specifications). We cushion the 50ms with another 50ms to account for delay in the network path. In addition to being powerful, our SONET services are extremely flexible. Based on industry standards for SONET transport, they can support all types of communications traffic, including voice, data, video, Internet and multimedia.

In addition to protected OC level service we also offer unprotected services at the OC-3 and OC-12 bandwidths. These are concatenated services, which are designed to maximize the usable payload of the available bandwidth by removing the overhead needed to manage sub-rate services.
